My patients are able to attach files to their patient portal messages to me, for instance, a form they need me to sign. But I cannot then sign the form and send it back. The provider needs to be able to send attachments to our patients without having to use our personal and unsecured email addresses. It makes no sense that attaching files is only a one-way street from the patient's end.
I strongly recommend adding this ability. When a patient calls and we want to send them an invoice or other document, it should be easy to do this through the portal. Right now it needs to be sent from a seperate email source, which confuses communications channels with the patient.
Excellent idea as it would be an expense saver also paying less administrative fees for someone doing this manually. As well as less time between issuing a statement and receiving payment. The ideal scenario would be that a provider would be able to run a payment report and could select patients that needed to make a payment and create batch statements with one click. VERY important that a link to pay the from the statement is included. Statements sent with that link are more likely to be paid immediately rather than having the patient send a check or a credit card number to complete the transaction which involves a person on the other end to carry out the transaction. Again a time saver and reduction in administrative cost=improved profits. Less aggravation with patient procrastination and forgetting to send payments. And being able to move directly to different areas within the system WITHOUT always having to go to the chart room would also be more efficient. Most doctor's offices have a system similar to this. With healthcare reimbursements and insurance coverage changing all the time, improved efficiency is a must.
Even if Icanotes can make it to where the patient can see and pay their billing statement on the patient portal
